Update my profile information

Sign into the App:

  • Open the main menu in the top corner of the app
  • Go to Settings
  • Select Edit Profile in the top left hand corner of the pop up box

From here, you can update your name, email address, phone number and profile photo.

Verify my mobile number

If you’re not receiving verification messages, it’s likely that your mobile phone company is blocking the short code SMS.  Give your provider a call to make sure that short code SMS is enabled for your mobile account. If you still can't verify your mobile number, please submit the correct one to hello@placepropertyapp.com

Reset my password

To reset your password click on the forgot password link on the landing screen of the App within a few minutes you will receive an email inviting you to reset your password. If you don’t receive an email and continue to have trouble accessing your account please email hello@placepropertyapp.com

My email or phone number is in use

If you're trying to sign up for a new PLACE account or changing your profile and finding that your email address or mobile number is already registered, it's possible that another account incorrectly has your information associated with it. If this happens please send a message to hello@placepropertyapp.com

I'd like to delete my account

Don’t forget, PLACE is completely free to use so there’s no harm in keeping your account just in case you’d like to use it in the future.  If you do delete your account it is irreversible and you will have to create a completely new account.

How old must I be to use place?

You have to be 16 years of age or older to use property services and create a PLACE Profile.

PERFECTING YOUR PROPERTY SEARCH

What can I afford? 

Open the main menu and select the Affordability Calculator on the top right to calculate how much money you can afford to spend on rent each month.  Use the sliders to input all the income and outgoings each month.  The Affordability Calculator will automatically tell you how much you can afford at the top of the page – how much you can afford is automatically fed into the property search so you don’t have to remember exactly what it says.

I want to search for a place near my current location

No problem, PLACE can search for you based on your current location.  If you do not enter a postcode PLACE will automatically search based on your current location.  You can check that your current location is correct by reading the address at the top of the page or by pressing the orange figure with a ring around the feet to see your location on the map.

I want to search for a place in a specific postcode

No problem PLACE can search a postcode for you.  Just enter the postcode you want to search in the top box on the property search page.

I don’t know where to start looking for a PLACE

No problem PLACE can search for you based on the time it takes you to travel to and from work or drop off and pick up your children from school.  Simply enter the postcode of your office or the school into the property search page and PLACE will find you all the PLACEs within your selected commute time.

How do I find a place that’s available when I need it?

When you search properties using PLACE you can enter the date you want to move in and, if you know it, the date you want to move out.  PLACE will then only show you the properties that are available in that date range.

What does ‘0’ mean for number of bedrooms or bathrooms?

If a PLACE has 0 Bedrooms it is a Studio flat or apartment and if it has 0 Bathrooms then it has access to a shared Bathroom.

How do I know if I should be looking for an unfurnished or furnished PLACE? 

You can use the information bubble on the right hand side to see what each level of furnishing means and decide which one suits you best.

How do I change the way the search results are displayed?

You can change the display from map view to list or grid view by pressing on the globe in the top right hand corner of the screen.  You can also filter the properties by deposit size, commute time and price.

How do I see the details of a property?

All you have to do is click on the image of the property and it will open up a page showing all the details.  You can see all the photos, the floorplan, the EPC, which Agent created it (the Agent’s rating) and exactly where it is on the map.  

I really like this property and want to be able to find it again easily. Can I do that?

You certainly can!  Press the menu button on the top right of the property and then press on the Heart - the property will be saved to your profile as a favourite.  If you don’t want to save it as a favourite you can always find it in your recently searched properties on your profile.

I’ve found a place I like and want to check that my wife / husband / girlfriend / boyfriend / partner / flatmate like it too or see what my friends, family & followers think of this PLACE 

Easy, press the menu button on the top right of the property and then press on the Share button.  A pop up box will appear with 9 different ways you can share the property with friends, family & Followers:

  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Google+
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Linkedin

I really like this property and want to view it

Great, press the request a viewing button on the bottom left hand corner of the property profile and a pop up will appear.  In the pop up you can select your viewing dates and times from available slots in the Agent’s calendar.  You can also attach a comment or note to the Agent. 

I’m trying to find an agent i’ve used before

Easy, press the search Agents button on the bottom left hand corner of your profile screen and then just type the name of the Agent in the search box and PLACE will automatically show all the possible Agents.

I really like this agent and want to save them as a favourite

Great! Simply press on the Agent’s profile photo.  On the Agent’s profile page select the menu on the top right hand corner and then press on the Heart symbol – the Agent is now saved as one of your favourites. 

The agent was great. Can I rate them?

Yes of course, Agent’s love to hear your feedback.  Simply press on the Agent’s profile photo.  On the Agent’s profile page select the menu on the top right hand corner and then press on the Star symbol.  You can now give the Agent a number of stars from 1-5 and make a comment so the Agent and other Tenants can all see how much you appreciated the service the Agent gave you.

What is the under the bridge: a PLACE for everyone campaign?

PLACE is about finding a PLACE for everyone, even if you don’t have a smartphone.  At PLACE we passionately believe in a ‘Big Society’, even in an urban jungle.  Homelessness is a growing problem in our society and we feel we should play our part to support the good work of homeless charities tackling this issue.  PLACE makes donations on yours and the Agent’s behalf to our two partner charities, The Booth Centre & Emmaus.  Every time someone you have shared PLACE with downloads the App and uses it we donate a meal for a homeless person at the Booth Centre.  Every time an Agent creates a new property on PLACE we donate a bed for a night for a homeless person at Emmaus shelters.

When you install PLACE on your device you'll see contextual dialogs asking you to approve certain permissions that the app requests. Allowing these permissions will ensure you have the best possible experience with PLACE.

Receiving 'network error' messages

Some Wi-Fi or cellular networks may interfere with your app's connection to PLACE. If you're receiving "Network Error" messages when trying to use the app, try connecting after each of the following steps:

  • Try connecting with Wi-Fi off
  • Try connecting with Wi-Fi on
  • Try to delete and reinstall the app
  • Try resetting your account password

PLACE maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding all forms of discrimination, harassment or abuse.
Non-discrimination

It is unacceptable to refuse to accept services based on a person’s race, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, gender identity, age or any other characteristic protected under applicable law. This type of behaviour can result in permanent loss of access to the PLACE platform.

Discrimination policy

No aggressive behaviour

It is disrespectful to make derogatory remarks about a person or group. Furthermore, commenting on appearance, asking overly personal questions and making unwanted physical contact are all inappropriate. We encourage you be mindful of other users’ privacy and personal space. Violence of any kind will not be tolerated.

Human Kindness

Calm and clear communication is the most effective way to defuse any disagreement that may arise between you and another PLACE user. PLACE expects that all users will treat one another with respect and courtesy.

Violations of this Code of Conduct could result in loss of your PLACE Account. Please report any violations to PLACE - we want to hear your feedback so please alert us and we’ll take action.

How do I create new properties?

Press on the orange plus button on the Agent profile. 

Can I upload the floorplan & epc back at the office?

Yes, you can upload them from your dashboard at your desktop. 

What does ‘0’ mean for number of bedrooms or bathrooms?

You can use the information bubble on the right hand side to see what each level of furnishing means and decide which one suits the PLACE best.

When I create a new property how does it connect with my existing systems like cfp, rightmove, zoopla or prime location?

When a new property is created will it create a data file that is emailed to you in the correct formats to be directly imported by you into your existing systems quickly and efficiently at your desktop.

How do I migrate my existing property stock on to PLACE? 

with your details and which uploading software you use and we will make arrangements to migrate your portfolio for you.

Do properties have ratings & comment reviews too?

Yes, you can ask a previous Tenant to review a property they have rented before.  On the property profile page press on the request a review button and simply enter the Tenants email address.

How do I send details of a property to a tenant? 

In the message conversion window with the Tenant you can press on the House symbol in the bottom left hand corner and then select one of your properties in your portfolio to send across to the Tenant.

Can I tell which properties a Tenant likes?

There are two ways:

1. If you press on the Tenants profile photo you will be taken to the Tenant's profile page where you can see the types of properties the Tenant has recently viewed and which properties they have saved as favourites. 

2. Which Tenants have messaged you about the property, which have saved it as a favourite, which have viewed it and others who are looking for similar properties in the postcode.

Update my banking info

Open the main menu and select Settings.  In the Settings pop up press on the Payment Info card symbol and fill in your card details. 

All card details are handled and stored securely by our payment provider, Stripe.  PLACE does not store any of your banking details on our servers.  

How are the charges calculated?

PLACE is free to download and free to list properties although there are charges for additional services:

  • Creating a new property – £10 donation to charity, which can be used to offset your corporation tax exposure
  • A one-time £20 fee per property listing
  • £1 per Tenant messaged

How are ratings calculated?

Tenants can rate an you on a scale of one to five stars and comment on you at any time.  Your account's rating is based on the average of all your ratings provided since you created your profile on PLACE.
Providing a high quality of service to Tenants is the best way to maintain your high average rating.
